Clean Plant Seminars - Southern Oregon

As part of a three state grant with USDA APHIS, outreach sessions will be held in Oregon and Washington in early May. These seminars are brought to you by a cooperation betweethe WA Wine Industry Foundation, USDA/APHIS, the OWA, three state Departments of Ag. and OSU. In order to bring this seminar to southern Oregon, we will need everyone to register by April 18. 

The Southern Oregon seminar will be held at the OSU Southern Oregon Research and Extention Center in Central Point from 1 pm to 4 pm.

A general agenda is listed below.

  • Intro to the USDA APHIS grant
  • Clean Plant Center NW: what is it, what they do for Washington and Oregon and why it is important
  • Viruses: what they are, are not, their damage, etc
  • Clean plants: where to get them, where NOT to get them, general background
  • Harmonizing quarantines and nursery certifications between WA and OR: proposed changes, impact on growers and on nurseries in particular
  • Changing rules and/or laws in three states to “harmonize”: What needs to be done, why, who needs to imitate action, when
  • Q&A
